Recently, we spent the weekend away on a retreat together. The adoption journey is long, and at different points along the way it's been helpful for us to pause, re-evaluate our whys, and recommit not only to the goal of adoption but to who we want to become in the process.
We decided fairly last minute to get away from the Cities, but because this is the summer of the pandemic retreat in MN, lots of places were booked. Rather than look north, we decided to look south, and found this lovely getaway in NE Iowa in the Driftless region full of winding rivers, bluffs, hills, and valleys. The landscape change did our souls some good. And after dreaming about visiting a pizza farm years ago ever since reading about them in Saveur, WE FINALLY VISITED ONE. It was as magical as I had hoped.
