We had a big snowfall a few weeks ago, and it was so beautiful the next day (deep but beautiful). After growing up in the south without much snow, there's something SO FUN about it, especially in December.
In November we visited some of our dear friends from Congo, in their new home in Chicago. It's so refreshing to reconnect with friends with whom you've shared so many unique experiences. We had fun reminiscing and exploring together.
We've also started our Advent traditions. Every Sunday night we're doing a reading from Fleming Rutledge's Means of Grace and we light the next candle. As the days shorten and the nights lengthen, these weekly candle lightings are space to pause and recenter.
We put up the tree!
My mom also came for a quick visit in December. We bundled up for winter walks, enjoyed the European Christmas market in town, and pretty much just ate and watched movies. It was perfect.
We celebrated Thanksgiving with Kyle's brother and his family. Our neice Hazel was super excited about the pumpkin cheesecake I made. She's almost as proud of it as I was.
